If you don’t consider getting an insurance for your bike – you are on the wrong site reading the wrong thing – insure your bike and cover the risk you are towards others. It's only fair.

Yep – you can end up owning a motorcycle without being able to insure it. It’s based on statistics … you might live in a very high crime rates area, are very young, super expensive machine, etc, etc. There are many aspects which will influence the fact if you can get a rider motorcycle insurance and at what rate. So look into it before you buy... is good advice.
You can get rider motorcycle insurances at many places and maybe even the same place as your home or car insurance company. However it might be very expensive! Look into specialist for bike insurances which have the expertise you also need as a rider. It's good to deal with specialists when you have to solve typical motorcycling troubles (e.g. breakdowns)
Most countries (or states) will require you to have at least liability insurance before you can operate a motorcycle on the road
When you finance a motorcycle your insurance company will probably require you to have a full coverage insurance
Getting full coverage on a motorcycle is expensive and often only reserved for bikes of high value. The premium can easily add up when e.g. also living in a big city, driving history, choice of motorcycle, age of the motorcycle.
You can ask to have a higher deductible (the amount you pay when you have an accident) which could lower your monthly premium.
Making a claim will often result in your monthly rate being increased. Sometimes it could be better to fix the motorcycle yourself.
