SouthWest Shortcut Motorcycle Tour Description

Riding Days: 8
Distance: 1395 miles/2232 km

Day 1 Las Vegas - Mount Carmel Junction (218 miles / 349 km)
Have your motorcycle ready in the early morning so you can head out while the sun rises over Las Vegas. Via Lake Mead and Interstate 15, you'll ride to Zion National Park. Overwhelming rocks and a walk to The Narrows will easily blur the glitter of Las Vegas but in a good way. The day ends just outside the park in Mount Carmel Junction.

Day 2 Mount Carmel Junction - North Rim (140 miles / 224 km)
Today it's time to explore one of the most famous wonders of the world: the Grand Canyon. You can visit the relatively little-known north rim of the Grand Canyon, where Point Imperial and Cape Royal offer great views over the canyon. You'll have enough time to enjoy this majestic landscape. Try to get yourself a bed right at the Grand Canyon National Park.

Day 3 North Rim - Kayenta (245 miles / 392 km)
After leaving the Grand Canyon behind it's time to head for Page at Lake Powell. Then, continue on through Navajo territory to Keyenta, just outside Monument Valley, find time to relax around Lake Pouwel.

Day 4 Kayenta - Moab (190 miles / 304 km)
Only a short ride from Kayenta lies Monument Valley. Make an off the road jeep tour with an Indian guide to discover this beauty of this area. The overwhelming landscape will sweep even the most down to earth rider off his or her feet. The day continues through Mexican Hat, Goosenecks Monument and Natural Bridges, end the day in Moab, at the base of Arches National Park.

Day 5 Moab (0 miles)
A well earned day off. You can trade your handlebars for a paddle and make a spectacular rafting trip on the Colorado River. Those who prefer to stay dry can do a motorcycle tour of the area on their own or explore Canyonlands National Park. But a lazy day by the pool is certainly also an option!

Day 6 Moab - Torrey (210 miles / 336 km)
Try to get up early and enjoy the sunrise in Arches National Park. This park is the pride of Utah, and this will need no further explanation once you have seen it for yourself. Next, ride an absolutely terrific route to Capitol Reef National Park via I-70 and Hanksville. Spend the night just outside the park in Torrey.

Day 7 Torrey - Panguitch (142 miles / 227 km)
Today is an easy cruising day. A road with spectacular curves will lead you to Bryce Canyon. Here too, words will fall short to describe the splendor of the scenery. Try a helicopter ride or cross the canyon on horseback. Your bed for the night could be in Panguitch, just outside the park.

Day 8 Panguitch - Las Vegas (250 miles / 400 km)
A fresh morning ride through Dixie National Forest, and see Cedar Breaks National Monument. Once you have left the mountains behind you, descend into the impressive heat of the Nevada Desert. The final miles of this tour are via Interstate 15 to Las Vegas. There is no need to be bored in Las Vegas - enjoy the evening and night.
